This zine is a visual translation of selected excerpts from "The Fever," by Wallace Shawn, a monologue that examines our struggle to live ethically in a world of injustice as we navigate through the disparity between the rich and the poor. It is an expression of what we conceal or reveal to ourselves as we face this truth in our lives.
“The Fever” is one of my favorite pieces of writing for its ability to move people and for its deep resonance. As I worked with the selections, I focused on the tone and overall feeling that the reader is left with as they process the text.
This zine is produced in a 2 x 3 feet scale (1.5’x2’ or 18"x24" when closed). The idea was partly inspired by Stephen Farrell's design of "VAS: An Opera in Flatland.”
